  • Sinopsis:

The use of Wetfix can help reduce the potential for stripping issues, but it may increase production costs. Meanwhile, the diminishing availability and rising costs of petroleum have prompted the development of polymer-modified asphalt. The implementation of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing regulations on polymer-modified asphalt PG70 and PG75 through the 2018 General Specification indicates the direction of this development. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of AC-WC (Asphalt Concrete - Wearing Course) mixtures using polymer-modified asphalt with the addition of Wetfix as an anti-stripping agent. Wetfix Anti Stripping Agent is commonly employed to address stripping problems in asphalt mixtures, especially in areas with high rainfall or humid conditions. The research methodology utilizes the Marshall Test to validate results and provide a scientific foundation for the development of asphalt concrete mixtures using polymer-modified asphalt and Wetfix as an anti-stripping agent. Testing without Wetfix at the optimal 5.5% polymer asphalt content showed characteristic values in line with the 2020 General Specification of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing after 30 minutes and 24 hours of soaking. The use of Wetfix at the optimal 5.5% polymer asphalt content resulted in improved mixture characteristics, meeting the requirements of the 2020 General Specification after 30 minutes and 24 hours of soaking However, the stability of the mixture significantly increased, leading to excessive stiffness and susceptibility to deformation. This research is expected to contribute to the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable asphalt technology in Indonesia.
